Fitcher's Bird
The Fitcher’s Bird is a fairy tale that provides one of the most powerful depictions of the trauma field. The symbolism is rough, and the images are raw. By analyzing the tale, we are given an opportunity to understand the grip that trauma can have in our and clients’ lives and how patterns related to trauma are played out over and over. We will also explore how these patterns can be made conscious, allowing us to live more richly and meaningfully.

Objectives
- Discuss the migration of trauma, moving from the deep unconscious to conscious awareness.
- Understand the importance of translating habitual patterns into language that we can understand.
- Address unconscious patterns and how they are constellated.
- Examine how our complexes remain suspended between the unconscious and conscious until we work through the pain and suffering.
Seminar Format
- Week 1: Overview of the Fairy Tale. We will explore the meaning of the tale in its entirety.
- Week 2: The Role of the Predator/Psychopath. We will discuss the archetype of the psychopath as seen through the life of the wizard in the fairy tale.
- Week 3: Repetition of the Trauma.We will examine how trauma is repeated in the lives of the daughters in the story, illustrating various ways that trauma is repeated in our lives today.
- Week 4: Redemption from the Trauma.We will define the term “redemption” and identify the redemptive aspect of the story.
Who should attend
- Anyone who is interested in understanding more about trauma.
- Therapists who are working with clients who have experienced trauma which will help you conceptualize your clients’ issues more clearly.
