My Approach

Picture
My approach to the counseling process is one that honors and respects your story. My goal is to understand the themes that are present in your story that have hindered your life path. These themes (or patterns) include behaviors that you have played out over and over. By identifying them and understanding their impact, you then get to make different choices about the direction of your life. I will assist you as you incorporate these new choices, which will result in the development of new patterns that are more in alignment with who you truly are. Ultimately, you will create a new chapter in your life story that is more positive.

My Responsibility to you

My responsibility is to provide an environment in which you feel safe to explore what brings you to therapy. I provide a place that:
  • Ensures confidentiality - I will hold private what you share with me.
  • Is consistent - You will know what to expect from each session; there will be no surprises.
  • Addresses the core issues in your life - I will work with you to identify the patterns in your life that hinder you from moving forward. My goal is to help you work on what really matters in your life.
  • Supports you - While you open up to your fears, sadness, anxiety, and other feelings, I will address your feelings with the greatest of care and concern.

My Process

The change process begins when you give words to your experience. I will encourage and support you every step of the way as you create a new story that is more life-giving. You will learn to:
  • Validate your story by acknowledging your thoughts and feelings.
  • Identify the tracks in the road (the patterns) that point to what is going on in your life.
  • Explore what the patterns are telling you about your life.
  • Challenge the patterns that keep you from achieving your goals.
  • Honor the choices you are making.
