Stand out from other candidates with a resume that works for you
Resume Story
- You are more than a bullet point! Express who you are and share how your work experience creates a cohesive story.
- Showcase your successes that demonstrate the fit between you and the prospective employer.
- Emphasizes the themes in your work history that relate to the position for which you are applying.
- Easily adaptable for online sites such as Linkedin
Current resumes make it impossible to tell your story and why you’re the right candidate for the job. Through my extensive experience working in the corporate world for more than 20 years with the 10+ years of experience I have gained as a life transition counselor, I have created a resume that tells potential employers who you are and your relevant work history. I believe the purpose of a resume is to tell your story in such a way that a prospective employer will get a cohesive picture about who you are and your work history. Helping you to identify the connections in your years of experience and presenting that information in a way that brings you to life on the page can help separate you from others who will be applying for the same position.
Having written resumes for many senior-level leaders and mid-level managers, I identified the need for a more unique approach for telling their story. Many of my clients have had incredible successes, but their accomplishments were not easily expressed through the use of a traditional resume alone. I wanted to have their success stories "come to life" on paper so that their resumes would be recognized during the selection process. So, I created a storyboard format that highlighted three to five of their most important career success stories.
Some clients ask me to create a traditional resume along with a storyboard-formatted resume. By taking this approach, resume reviewers see the clear progression of my clients' work history through the use of the traditional resume while, at the same time, they have more insight into the way my clients work through the use of the storyboard resume.
When the owner of a multi-million dollar business recently selected me to create an executive-level resume for herself, she specifically wanted to show the growth of her business and highlight the reasons why she had been successful. Using the storyboard format made sense because it allowed me to capture the core areas of her business that had produced such tremendous success. My client was extremely happy with the final product. The hiring manager told her that because of the unique look and feel of her resume, he was drawn to read it before he reviewed other potential candidates resumes. Based on what he read, he definitely wanted to interview her because her work history was told in such a compelling way. Ultimately, she was offered the job!! She had the following to say,
"Rozan Christian has made resume building an art form. She blends her knowledge of Corporate America and Psychology to give you a resume you could not find elsewhere. I was very pleased with the resume she crafted for me and would highly recommend her to anyone that wants their resume to stand out from the crowd." - Amy
